About Me

1958-1976

I was born in Montpelier, Clay Co, MS and attended school there through my senior year in high school. I was Valedictorian, Star Student, Mr. Clay High, and editor of the school annual.  I played both basketball and baseball while attending Clay High School.  I have always excelled in all of my academics.

1968-1991

I worked numerous jobs as a young adult, everything from baling hay, milking cows, and factory work.  At each job, I learned all I could to further my employment opportunities and make it better for not only myself, but also for my employer.  My dad always said, "Son, it is a lot easier to do the job right the first time, than to have to lick that calf over."  There were times I didn't understand what that meant, but as I got older, I understood exactly what it meant.  DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

1980-1995

I served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for over 15 years.   Part of that time I was a training officer for Yalobusha County and as Chief for one of our county volunteer fire departments.

1990-Present

I met my wife, Dana Bailey Coleman in 1990 at the MS State Fire Academy in Pearl, MS.  She says she was just trying to sell me a gun and hasn't sold me one yet.  Ha.  We have been married for almost 33 years, (and I thought fighting fires was hard work).  On May 21, 1995, while my wife was enroute to a fire call that I was already at, the firetruck ran the red light and hit the rescue van she was in, leaving her paralyzed.  This has not stopped us, no matter how hard life gets.

We had a gun store in Water Valley and opened one here in Grenada in February 1993.  We eventually shut the store down in Water Valley after the wreck to be able to concentrate more on our Grenada store, which grew like crazy.  We have been here in Grenada for over 30 YEARS!!
